“Praise God from whom all blessings flow.”

Dear Friends of MECO:

Since our last newsletter, the MECO Board, Missionaries and Staff spent the summer in prayer.  Much like Nehemiah’s team rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem, we each undertook to pray for one of six different areas of MECO’s ministry.

One of the prayer requests was for the expansion of our work.

In mid-September, the Board met with two Middle Eastern Christians, who have ministries that we feel will benefit Middle Eastern churches in Canada. We have recently taken the first step in connecting these men to pastors who attended our Summit last spring. Would you please pray that if it is God’s will, He will open the way for them all to meet.

We were also praying for S* one of our missionaries who does not have all the financial support he needs to continue in ministry full-time. S* has an online video ministry that reaches more than 140,000 Arabic speakers three times a week. He also has a prayer ministry for those who watch his broadcasts, and he leads an online Bible study once a week. In September, a person who supports our General Fund asked that his monthly donation be used to help feed refugees in the Middle East. Since we aren’t involved in relief work, we phoned him and recommended three organizations that are helping refugees and said we were returning his monthly donation to him. He told us not to return it but to use it where most needed. We then told him about our Exodus Project – S’s ministry – and in one of those moments that can only be attributed to God, our supporter decided he wanted to donate monthly so that S* can “feed people spiritually”.

Would you join us in praying that God will continue to provide for the Exodus Project.

On another note, two of our people need prayer as they wait to return to the Middle East next year for a short-term visit. The visa application process is proving difficult, but we are looking to the Lord to open the way for them to go.

Also, a school for refugee children in the Middle East, that we partner with, needs prayer as the school board negotiates a rent increase with the owner of the building that houses the school.

As you know, in the last year the suffering of people in Israel, Gaza, Lebanon and now Syria has been unimaginable. In Romans 12:18 we read: If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceable with all.” RSV May we encourage you to use that verse as a prayer for the governments and the people of the Middle East?

Would you also pray that Christ’s Church in the Middle East will be equipped by the Holy Spirit to provide for widows and orphans in their distress, to feed people who are starving physically and spiritually, to be a light in the darkness.

Thank you for considering all our requests for prayer. Please know that your prayers are invaluable to us!

God bless you and all you do for Him!
